A day when Gloucester icehouse is hot spot

Looking for a respite from the heat, visitors took in two daily tours at Cape Pond Ice Co., where they got to see how industrial-sized blocks of ice are made by the coolest guys in Gloucester.

Everybody in Gloucester loves Cape Pond Ice, which I realize is a weird company to have city pride in. They actually have a pretty interesting history of providing ice to fishing boats, which enabled fishermen from Gloucester to stay out at sea longer and still bring back fresh fish, while other boats had to either cut their trip short or brine the cod to preserve it. That’s why the fishing industry (was) so much stronger in Gloucester than other ports in the north east.

And that is why they are the first google result for “coolest guys around”.
