Hot Toddy

Since you’re going to be locked in your house for a few days, you’ll probably start to get thirsty. So here’s my personal take on a Hot Toddy:

  • Three parts hot water
  • Two parts clove-infused whiskey (rye or bourbon)
  • One part Calvados (apple brandy)
  • One cinnamon stick

To infuse the whiskey, just put 6-8oz into a mason jar with about a dozen cloves for an hour. If you leave it too long, the clove flavor will be overwhelming. I generally use a cheap-ish whiskey like Old Overholt rye or Temptation bourbon.

If you dig deep enough, you’ll find a recipe for French 75 Jello shots (which are arguably non-vegetarian, but then again neither am I), which would be a great way to celebrate surviving a hurricane.
